For employers, the same lesson applies at organisational scale. Do not simply buy standing desks and call the workplace healthy. Create jobs in which employees can realistically move, take short breaks and vary tasks without being treated as unproductive.

The evidence points away from one “perfect posture” and toward something much more practical:

the healthiest posture is often the one you have not been holding for the last several hours.

A standing desk can help make that transition easier.

That—not standing all day—is its most defensible benefit.
