Editorial Policy
Last updated: May 18, 2026
Editors Outlook is committed to the highest standards of journalism. This Editorial Policy sets out the principles and practices that guide everything we publish. We hold ourselves to these standards every day, and we are transparent about them so our readers can hold us accountable.
Independence
Editors Outlook operates independently. We are not owned by or affiliated with any political party, government body, or large corporate group. Our editorial decisions are made solely on journalistic grounds — by what is true, accurate, and important to our readers — not by commercial or political interests.
Advertisers have no influence over our editorial content. The fact that a company advertises on our website does not affect how we cover them in our news reporting.
Accuracy
We are committed to publishing only what we believe to be true and accurate. Before publishing, our writers and editors verify facts from at least one reliable source. For significant claims, we seek multiple independent sources of confirmation.
When we are unable to independently verify a claim, we say so clearly in the article. We do not publish rumour or speculation as established fact.
Fairness and Impartiality
We strive to report all sides of a story fairly. When we report on disputes, controversies, or allegations, we make every reasonable effort to contact all parties involved and give them the opportunity to respond before publication.
We distinguish clearly between news reporting and opinion. Opinion pieces are clearly labelled as such and represent the views of the individual author, not of Editors Outlook as a publication.
Sources and Attribution
We name our sources wherever possible. When a source requests confidentiality, we will protect their identity, but we will explain to readers why the source has requested anonymity and satisfy ourselves that the information provided is credible.
We do not rely solely on anonymous sources for significant factual claims. We always seek corroboration from other sources or documentary evidence.
Conflicts of Interest
Our journalists and editors are required to disclose any personal, financial, or professional interest that could be seen as a conflict of interest in relation to a story they are covering. Where a conflict exists, the journalist will be recused from that story.
Privacy
We respect the privacy of individuals. We only publish personal information about private individuals when it is in the clear public interest to do so and the public interest outweighs the individual's right to privacy. Public figures have a reduced expectation of privacy in relation to their public roles, but we respect their private lives.
Photographs and Images
All photographs and images published on Editors Outlook are either owned by us, licensed for our use, or used under applicable fair dealing provisions. We do not publish photographs in a way that misleads readers about the context or subject of a story.
Sponsored Content
Any content that has been paid for, sponsored, or produced in partnership with an advertiser is clearly labelled as "Sponsored Content" or "Advertisement." Such content is visually distinct from our editorial content. Sponsored content is produced separately from our newsroom.
Social Media
Our official social media accounts reflect the editorial standards of Editors Outlook. Content shared on our social channels is held to the same accuracy and fairness standards as our published articles.
