Ramayana Advance Booking Crosses ₹5 Crore; Tickets Hit ₹2,770

Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited film Ramayana has crossed ₹5 crore in advance bookings across India, nearly two weeks before its theatrical release. The big-budget mythological drama, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has already sold more than 91,000 tickets, while premium seats at select Mumbai theatres are being priced as high as ₹2,770, highlighting the extraordinary anticipation surrounding one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious projects.

According to booking figures available as of noon on October 21, 2026, Ramayana had recorded approximately ₹5.35 crore in gross advance bookings, with 91,125 tickets sold across 3,542 shows. The film is scheduled to release on November 5, and the early response suggests strong audience interest ahead of its opening. However, the headline collection includes block bookings, and the figure excluding those bookings was approximately ₹3.52 crore, an important distinction when evaluating actual ticket demand.

Ramayana advance booking: Delhi-NCR and Mumbai lead ticket sales

The Hindi version has emerged as the biggest contributor to Ramayana’s early ticket sales, accounting for approximately ₹5.07 crore, or nearly 95% of the reported gross advance bookings. The Kannada version has generated approximately ₹27.11 lakh, while Telugu bookings remain comparatively limited at this stage. These numbers are expected to change as more shows, languages and cinema locations become available for booking.

Delhi-NCR has recorded the strongest regional performance so far, contributing approximately ₹1.50 crore from 19,607 tickets. Mumbai follows with ₹1.08 crore from 15,671 tickets. Pune has registered approximately ₹29.65 lakh, Ahmedabad ₹28.32 lakh and Kolkata ₹23.65 lakh in advance sales.

The geographical distribution indicates particularly strong early demand in major metropolitan markets, where premium cinema formats and high-priced seating contribute significantly to revenue. Nevertheless, the initial figures cannot yet establish how the film will perform in smaller cities or across its complete theatrical run.

Advance booking opened on October 20, coinciding with Dussehra, providing an additional festive connection for a film based on one of Hinduism’s most celebrated epics. With approximately 15 days remaining before release, the booking trend will be closely watched as theatre allocations expand and more audiences decide whether to reserve tickets.

Why are Ramayana tickets priced at ₹2,770?

One of the most discussed aspects of the film’s advance booking is the unusually high pricing for selected premium screenings in Mumbai. At PVR ICON in Phoenix Palladium, Lower Parel, recliner seats for certain IMAX 3D screenings on November 5 and 6 have been listed at ₹2,770 each.

The price has drawn attention because it approaches ₹3,000 for a single cinema ticket, significantly exceeding conventional movie-ticket prices in India. However, ₹2,770 represents a premium seating category at a specific location, not the standard ticket price across the country. Other theatres and seating categories offer considerably lower prices depending on the city, format and showtime.

Premium ticket pricing has increasingly become an important element of the economics of large theatrical releases. IMAX presentations, luxury recliners and other enhanced viewing formats allow exhibitors to charge higher prices, particularly for films marketed as large-scale cinematic experiences.

For Ramayana, the producers are positioning the film as a major visual spectacle featuring extensive visual effects, elaborate production design and large-scale action sequences. Such positioning can support demand for premium formats, although pricing also raises questions about accessibility for families who may want to watch the film together.

A family of four purchasing tickets at ₹2,770 each would spend ₹11,080 on admission alone, excluding convenience fees, food and transport. That example reflects a premium seating option rather than the cost of a typical family cinema visit, but it illustrates why ticket prices have become a significant talking point around the release.

Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi lead an ambitious production

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol portrays Hanuman, while Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman. Arun Govil, widely remembered for portraying Lord Ram in the classic television series Ramayan, plays King Dasharatha.

The film is being developed as a two-part cinematic saga, with its first instalment scheduled for November 5, 2026, and the second expected in 2027. The production brings together major Indian film stars, international visual-effects expertise and music by A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.

The scale of the project has made it one of the most closely watched Indian film releases of the year. Its adaptation of the Ramayana also gives it a cultural reach that extends beyond traditional Bollywood audiences. The filmmakers are attempting to introduce the epic to a new generation through modern cinematic storytelling while retaining the emotional and religious significance associated with the original narrative.

The growing excitement has been reinforced by promotional material featuring the principal characters, including Yash’s portrayal of Ravana. The project’s combination of familiar mythology, major stars and a large visual-effects budget has helped generate substantial public interest ahead of the release.

Can Ramayana deliver a record-breaking opening?

The early advance-booking numbers provide an encouraging signal, but it would be premature to predict a record-breaking opening solely from the first phase of ticket sales. Advance bookings represent demand before release, not the final box-office collection, and reported totals can include reserved or blocked seating inventory.

A more reliable assessment will emerge closer to November 5, when additional screenings become available and booking trends reveal whether demand remains strong beyond the initial excitement. Ticket sales in smaller cities, the response to dubbed versions and the availability of affordable seats will also influence the film’s overall opening-day performance.

The eventual box-office result will depend on several factors, including audience reviews, word of mouth, show availability and whether the film appeals to viewers beyond its existing fan base. High advance sales can generate momentum, but sustained theatrical success generally requires a positive audience response after release.

For now, Ramayana has achieved something significant before reaching cinemas: it has crossed ₹5 crore in reported advance bookings while drawing national attention to both its premium ticket prices and the scale of its cinematic ambitions.

With Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Yash as Ravana and a November 5 release approaching, the next two weeks will determine whether the early enthusiasm translates into one of the year’s biggest theatrical openings.
